Van der Waal Forces

This is a bit urgent because i have a test tomorrow and have compleatly forgotten everything about Van der Waals. Id like to know how you would tell if something is held together by van der waal forces, for example CO2? Basically any information that would make my understanding of Van der Waals better. Thank you!

Important to understand the Van der Wall force does NOT hold C and O atoms together in a CO2 molecule , they are held together by sharing electrons ...

Van der Wall force is much weaker , can either repel or attract and will exist between the individual CO2 molecules ..

Put " Van der Waals" in google search for more information
