Measure NA chlorate concentration vs chloride
Hello,
I am using an electrolytic cell to convert sodium chloride to sodium chlorate (NOT per-chlorate, just straight NaCLO3). How can i measure the relative concentration of chlorate to chloride? I need to find a way to track how much of the conversion has been completed. The application is for herbicide, so purity isn't an issue, i dont need to worry about running the reaction to completion. (ie if the resulting product is 75% chlorate and 25% plain salt thats fine). I've tried searching for an answer to this, but no luck. Time to put up my hand and ask! Thanks. |
I'm not sure how you could do this (easily) ...
Probably the best way is to measure how many coulombs of electricity you put into the cell , perhaps about 50% is lost in heat , the rest will be used in conversion . |
