Post [SOLVED] Lone pairs in OCl2

Not sure if OCl2 lewis structure has 2 lone pairs or 8 lone pairs.

When asked how many lone pairs a molecule has, is every lone pair that is not shared with other elements counted? Or just the ones around the central element?

Could you add the solution you obtained for anyone who might stumble on the same problem?

OCl2 has 20 electrons total. After connecting the central O to the 2 Cl with one single bond each, the dots drawn around each element will make up the rest of the 20 electrons. There will be 8 lone pairs of electrons total in OCl2.

One slight improvement I would say, would be to say that "OCl2 has 20 outermost electrons total". Otherwise, everything else should be fine
