Mixing denatured alcohol with glycerin

I need some info on how to form a semi liquid polishing paste with 0.3 Chrome oxide powder. Im going to spread it on a leather strop for sharpening razors. I was thinking of using denatured alcohol and glycerin, so that i can use it as a carrier to spread in on the leather. I was thinking the denatured alcohol would help this dry evenly after i apply it. Would this be a bad combination or reaction? Meaning would any of these mixtures work against the chrome oxide, and making it less effective. Ive also read that chrome oxide absorbs some oil, and i dont know if this is good or bad.
