Lithium and Fluoride ionic bond

Can someone please help me explain in a simple way what happens to both these elements after a ionic bond.

Thanks.

Li has the electron arrangement 2.1
F has the electron arrangement 2:7

The most stable electron arrangements are those with complete electron shells. By donating an electron from Li to F - both achieve a stable arrangement Li+ 2 and F- 2.8

The ionic bond is the attraction between the positive charge on Li+ and and the negative charge on F- ions
