Sodium Clorite plus Sodium Carbonate

I need to ask about the reaction between Sodium Carbonate (NaCO3) and Sodium Chlorite (NaClO2). It's said that this reaction will generate Chlorine dioxide (ClO2). However, when i mix these 2, a precipitate appears. I don't know what compound is formed because both reagents and products should be soluble. Please help
