Question For daughter extra credit: theoretical skin dye powder, that's safe

For daughter extra credit: theoretical skin dye powder, that's safe

My daughter is in high school in New Zealand. We call high school "form 7" / secondary school / senior school.

Neither of us are chemists, so please be gentle.

My child is doing a chemistry thought experiment for extra credit.

The teacher randomly picks three traits, and we have to find chemicals that work.

My girl's chemical traits

1) is a lawful powder available for purchase in the US

2) a dye that quickly and permanently stains bare skin by merely touching. In other words the dye is doesn't need a second chemical or preparation. The dye can be any colour, but vivid.

3) safe enough to eat when combined with something inert, as long as all ingredients can be consumed in one "meal". It can be unpleasant to eat but not poisoned.

She picked
- FDA approved powdered food dye, like Red #50 or Red #3 (powdered???)
- cabbage leaves
- red onion skins
- turmeric
- raw walnut shells
- rust
- iodine (powdered???)
- crystal violet / gentian violet / methyl violet 10B / hexamethyl pararosaniline - chloride

She doesn't actually need to demonstrate an actual experiment. I just has to be something that should work.

Any ideas, or what's best?
