Precautions for alluminium amalgam

Hello everyone!
I have to use Al amalgam as a catalyst in a reaction. Since I will need Mercurium Chloride in order to activate it, I'm a bit worried about the toxicity of Mercurium. Is there any precaution I can take not to poison myself? Is there a way to remove the mercurium without ruining an organic product? TX for help
