Hi, I am having a hard time figuring out this question. Hope someone can help.

"The nitrogen in amines can be either trigonal planar or pyramidal. State which shape it prefers to adopt and why."

On the base of my knowledge, nitrogen in amines should be pyramidal...because his sp^3 hybridization....
the lone pair can invert the position up and down passing thru pyramidal inversion mechanism.

In imines, nitrogen has a sp^2 hybridizations and it's planar trigonal
